DRIV3R Hints XVI (PS2) - Softpedia Posted: 14 Oct 2009 07:45 AM PDT DRIV3R, also known as Driver 3, is a videogame created by Reflections Interactive and published by Atari. It was released for the PlayStation 2 console from Sony, the original Xbox from Microsoft, the Game Boy, the PC (a GameCube version was also in production but got canceled). The game was also later ported to mobile phones. It was initially released in June 2005 and classed as a racing title played from a first and a third person perspective. Driver 3 incorporates elements of a shooter, fighting and spy adventure game. The third iteration in the series builds upon the legacy of Driver 2, allowing the gamer to again play the undercover cop who infiltrates an international band of thieves and is determined to get them to face justice. The main character is Tanner, the cop known from the previous releases, but one mission allows players to also control Tobias Jones. Some of the cars that could be used in the game, although not named as such, are: 1969 Ford Mustang, 1975 Pontiac Firebird, Citroen CX, Aston Martin DB5, U-Haul Semi Truck, Ferrari Testarossa Convertible, Renault Alpine, Lamborghini Jalpa, BMW 507, Seat Ibiza, General Motors New Look Bus, Lamborghini Countach, Ford GT40, Shelby Cobra, a go-kart, Volkswagen Microbus, a hot rod, a forklift, a pre-war Auto Union race car and a Bugatti Royale. DRIV3R was widely criticized by the gaming press because of the poor implementation of the missions that do not involve driving around a car and because of the Artificial Intelligence, which relies very much on cheating. GAMEPLAY HINTS Miami: Timmy Vermicellis Go to Tanner's house, the safehouse near South Point Park. Go out the front door next to the garage. Go behind the house directly across the street to find a Timmy Vermicelli. Get a boat and go to the group of huts on the water, near "Miami" on the map. Inside the hut nearest to Dodge Island is a Timmy Vermicelli. Here's a video:

Charlotte II: Kyle Busch preview - Motorsport.com Posted: 14 Oct 2009 07:59 AM PDT KYLE BUSCH HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 14, 2009) -- Last weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. was a trying one for Kyle Busch, as the talented 24-year-old driver fell ill and had to yield to relief drivers in both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series races. While he continues to rest up early in the week, Busch will hope to be in much better spirits while turning his attention to his favorite racetrack -- Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C., for Saturday night's NASCAR Banking 500 Sprint Cup Series race. While the driver of the No. 18 M&M's/Susan G. Komen for the Cure Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) knows a win Saturday night would brighten up his weekend, Busch's car and firesuit will certainly play the part. A colorful pink M&M's scheme will be on tap in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. If Busch's last four Sprint Cup finishes at Charlotte are any indication, chances are the brightly colored car will be somewhere near the front of the pack. Busch notched a career-best third-place finish at the 1.5-mile oval in October 2007, then followed it up in the May 2008 Coca-Cola 600 by matching that same result. Last October, Busch scored a fourth-place finish and had a shot at the win before a pit road speeding penalty took him out of contention. Most recently, the Las Vegas native dominated this past May's Coca-Cola 600, leading five times for a race-high 173 laps. But this time, rain shortened the event, and the timing of a final rain shower thwarted his team's pit strategy and his chance at the win, relegating him to a somewhat disappointing sixth-place finish. Still, Charlotte remains Busch's favorite racetrack as he's enjoyed four NASCAR Nationwide Series wins and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series wins there, along with the aforementioned three top-five and five top-10 finishes in the Sprint Cup Series. With the recent strong finishes at Charlotte under his belt, along with a week's worth of rest, there is plenty of reason for optimism this weekend. Besides, he'll be vying for his first Sprint Cup victory at Charlotte with M&M's and a great cause, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation along for the ride. KYLE BUSCH, Driver of the No. 18 M&M's/Susan G. Komen for the Cure Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing: Last weekend was rough with you feeling very under the weather and having to get out of the car in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races at Fontana. How are you feeling this week and what are you expecting for this weekend in Charlotte? "It was rough, for sure. The last thing I wanted to do was get out of either race car. Thanks to all the guys on the Nationwide side and the Cup guys for sticking behind me. I just didn't feel it was the right thing to do for myself and everyone else out there. I went to see my doctor at home on Monday. I'm just trying to get as much sleep as I can and keep getting fluids in me. That's about all I can do and we'll see how I feel this weekend, but I'm trying to rest as much as I can in order to be ready for Charlotte. I think we have cars capable of winning both races." For the second year in-a-row you have a special pink M&M's paint scheme to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and breast cancer awareness. How does it feel to ride around in a pink car? "I don't mind the pink car at all. We were fast with it last year, so I don't care what color it is as long as it's fast and we have a chance to win the race. I told M&M's that I wanted more pink on my firesuit, too, this year and they were able to do that. I figure if we're going to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let's go all out. It's a cool deal to be able to support since, chances are, someone in your family, or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer and I'm happy that M&M's supports the cause and we can support it with our paint scheme this weekend." You've said in the past that Charlotte is your favorite track. Is there any particular reason why? "Charlotte is still probably my favorite racetrack. Just growing up, watching races on TV, I loved watching the All-Star race under the lights and the 600 with all the sparks flying and all the guys going after hard-fought, hard-racing wins. The Nationwide Series has been good to me there. The Truck Series has been pretty good to me there. But a Cup Series win has eluded me there. I finished third in the 500 last fall but, besides that, I don't think I've finished in the top-20. It's been kind of a struggle there for me. I think I've only finished one race there without having problems or without wrecking or having something happen. In that race, I was two or three laps down in 32nd, or something like that. We fought back and finished in the top-five in the first race there, so I hope my luck is turning around a bit at Charlotte. Before May, I always wrecked when it was still daytime, and I do the same thing at Homestead." You were able to win at your hometown track in Las Vegas, and even on your birthday this year at Richmond. Is winning at Charlotte next on your list behind perhaps the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400? "Next week is where you want to win next. You forget about what happened last week and focus on what's ahead. Winning at Lowe's Motor Speedway, since it is my favorite track, would be really special since I've been able to win there in other series and have been close a lot in the Cup car. We had good cars there in both races last year. At the fall Charlotte race, we were in a position to win and I messed up, speeding on pit road, and we ended up fourth. It seems like the month of May at Charlotte just doesn't like me too much, either, since we had the best car there in the spring and the rain really affected the outcome on the final pit stop. But I'm hoping we can change that. There are plenty of other tracks that we need to win at, too, but winning in Charlotte in the Cup car would be really special." -credit: jgr This content has passed through fivefilters.org. Russia Issues Patent on Cyclone Power Technologies' Green Engine - CNBC Posted: 14 Oct 2009 07:31 AM PDT POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Oct 14, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cyclone Power Technologies (Pink Sheets: CYPW) announced today that Russia has granted the company a patent on its award-winning, heat regenerative external combustion engine. Russia initially issued a notice of allowance in January 2009, but this recent event marks the official approval and issuance of full patent protection for Cyclone's engine technology. Initially filed in 2005, the Russian patent is valid through September 2025. Cyclone has received many requests for information from companies in Russia, as well as other eastern European nations, for its high-efficiency modern steam engine. The Cyclone engine is capable of running on virtually any liquid or gaseous fuel, including liquid natural gas (LNG) which exists in great reserves in Russia. According to the Energy Information Administration, Russia gets over half of its domestic energy needs from natural gas, and has a great national need to find new methods of utilizing this resource in power generation, automotive and other critical applications. "We are excited to be able to expand our efforts to find commercial licensees for our technology and investment partners in Russia, now that our engine has received this much needed protection," stated Cyclone's COO and Director, Frankie Fruge. The company received patent protection for its engine technology in Korea, China, South Africa and Australia earlier in 2009, in the United States in 2006, and then on the engine's proprietary combustion chamber in the U.S. in 2008. The company has applications pending for other components of its engine in the U.S., and for the engine in virtually every industrialized nation. CORPORATE PROFILE Cyclone Power Technologies is the developer of the award-winning Cyclone Engine -- an eco-friendly external combustion engine with the power and versatility to run everything from portable electric generators and garden equipment to cars, trucks and locomotives. Invented by company founder and CEO Harry Schoell, the patented Cyclone Engine is a modern day steam engine, ingeniously designed to achieve high thermal efficiencies through a compact heat-regenerative process, and to run on virtually any fuel - including bio-diesels, syngas or solar - while emitting fewer greenhouse gases and irritating pollutants into the air. Currently in its late stages of development, the Cyclone Engine was recognized by Popular Science Magazine as the Invention of the Year for 2008, and was presented with the Society of Automotive Engineers' AEI Tech Award in 2006 and 2008. Additionally, Cyclone was recently named Environmental Business of the Year by the Broward County Environmental Protection Department. For more information, visit www.cyclonepower.com. Ford Revving Up Fiesta Buzz Online - CNBC Posted: 14 Oct 2009 07:09 AM PDT The formula for building momentum and excitement about a new car or truck is pretty well known. The automaker usually releases pictures or clips of a new car to one of the auto enthusiast web sites. Or they'll create a web site for the new vehicle and look for "hand raisers" - people interested in learning more about the new model. Either way, we all know the game and rarely is there a model that breaks through the on-line clutter to create "major" buzz. With that in mind, Ford's latest attempt at generating interest in its new car, the Fiesta, is an interesting experiment in whether word of mouth testimonials will make the average person check out a new car. The Fiesta is a compact car that has been a huge hit in Europe and has been the focal point of Ford's strategy to crank out smaller, more fuel efficient models for customers in the US. People in the auto industry, or those who have driven a Fiesta in Europe, have long known the pint-size car could be a big winner for Ford. But in a crowded market with strong competitors in the compact segment, Ford knows it will still have to work to make the Fiesta a big seller. So it's taking its message to the streets. More specifically, having 100 regular people take their message to the streets. These "Fiesta Agents" include people like Derek "Pretty Boy" Dow from Chicago. Dow is a young, aspiring filmmaker who has been driving, and chronicling his experiences with the Fiesta since last spring. Ford provided Dow and the other agents with a Fiesta and paid for their gas as they went on various "missions" with their cars. There were no restrictions on what the agents could write or say on line about driving the Fiesta. In Derek's case, the Fiesta has been the setting for a series of vignettes he's posted on YouTube. For Ford, the program has exceeded expectations. It claims recognition of the Fiesta among the general public is 38%, as great as it is for the Edge. It believes there have been 100 million "engagements" on line where people have seen, read, learned more about the Fiesta. In short, Ford believes putting its compact car in the hands of people who will talk it up on line is creating buzz for the Fiesta. Skeptics will say you can't really measure buzz, and of course these Fiesta agents will talk up a car they are essentially driving for free. Derek Dow knows there are skeptics, but he also thinks Fiesta is the kind of car that will help Ford win over young buyers. Derek says, "When they (younger drivers) start to appreciate the gas mileage, when they start to get in the car and really see how it rides and how good it is it will change their minds." _____________________________________ - Ford Motor [F Loading...
